GENERAL
TELEPHONE AND ELECTRONICS, Santa Monica, CA
Returned to previous telephone
switchroom maintenance position to allow full time enrollment at CSULB in
engineering.
Identified serious day-one customer problem
using software breakpoints. Escalated the issue for approval to enhance
distribution wiring on live switch. Received recognition award.
Designed and built cable tester
using spare TTL logic boards and a retired back plane. Used it to bring
equipment online that had never functioned due to multiple manufacturing and
installation faults.
Isolated custom calling problem at the machine
code level (incorrect op-code), tested fix using debugger on live switch,
committed fix using field patch tool, submitted documentation to notify all
sites of problem and solution. Received recognition from engineering
department.
Designed and built test slot for
high failure, high profile custom calling circuit. Used it to positively
identify circuits with intermittent failures. Installed test slot at a second
site and trained staff. Received recognition award.
GENERAL
TELEPHONE AND ELECTRONICS, Downey/Redondo Beach, CA
Was approached while taking a 480
hour training course (related to electronic telephone switching systems), to
join the training team as an instructor. Formal request was made before the
course was completed. Went on to become an accomplished instructor for 840
hours of curriculum. Course content included: 24 bit architecture, assembly
language, machine code, operating system software, memory allocation, data
structures, real-time interrupts, I/O communication, job scheduling, emergency
recovery software, subsystem communication flow, power distribution, memory
systems, electro-mechanical network, and oscilloscope operation.
Determined that existing course
content was inadequate to fully prepare students for job responsibilities.
Enriched the courses by arranging hands-on field trips to live systems and
writing error message simulators. Enhancements increased the course impact and
interest, greatly increasing trainee on-the-job effectiveness.
